THE BIG PICTURE
( The Grand Story in which we play a part)
The Creator of the universe—the God of Israel—revealed His redemptive purposes through the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. He chose Abraham and his descendants to bring both the Scriptures and the Messiah into the world, calling Israel to be “a light to the nations” (Isaiah 42:6; 49:6).
In the mystery of God’s purposes, much of Israel was temporarily blinded to their Messiah so that the Gospel might reach the Gentiles. Yet God’s goal has always been that Jew and Gentile become one in Messiah. Jews and Gentiles need each other. The church was birthed from Israel and now carries the message of new birth back to Israel, anticipating the day when “all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:25–26).
Today, the Jewish people are returning to their ancestral land in fulfillment of prophecy, though many remain spiritually estranged from their Messiah. They are returning from geo-political exile, while many are still in spiritual exile. At the same time, the Gospel is reaching the last unreached Gentile people groups. As Gentiles come to faith in Israel’s Messiah, many are extending that Good News back to the Jewish people.
As Ezekiel the Prophet went east (see the article within “Why EAST?”) to reach his people in exile, so we are committed to proclaiming Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah to the Jewish people, helping the Church rediscover her Jewish roots, opposing antisemitism, and fostering a biblical understanding of Israel and the Church—the lens of Romans 9-11 being key.
We also believe that Western civilization, having drifted far from its Jewish and Christian worldview and moral foundations, is experiencing a kind of cultural exile. Therefore, we seek a recovery of biblical values; we labor through prayer, and Engaging, Authoring, Storying and Teaching for Holy Spirit revival and spiritual renewal of its Jewish and Christian foundations in our generation.
